Update from our Fall Conference Chair
The sky was dark, the air bristled with electricity, other parts of the Valley even got rain but for the first time the Conference Committee of 2008 was not joined by Mother Nature.  This does not mean there wasn't electricity in the air as we met for our final brainstorming session, this time focusing on banquets and special events.

We are 8 weeks away from taking a step "Through the looking glass"  where our "Dreams Come True" and there is still so much to be done.  The good news is there are wonderful people committed to doing it for all our members!

This week our brain storms began with how were we going to seat our meals?  We knew we wanted something that would improve the seating for all, but what options were out there?  We reviewed the model from International Conference, we reviewed the model from Regional Conferences and we provided feedback to our banquet & registration chairs who will be rolling out a new seating model for Fall Conference.    We then reviewed our now TWO banquet evenings, our Friday DTM banquet and our Saturday Humorous Contest banquet.  What type of tone would they take?  We had many ideas to share with our banquet teams and we know they are busy absorbing them all now.

The brainstorming and maybe even the storms themselves have now ended and work is beginning in all areas to make your "very very merry unconference'.  Would you like to volunteer?  Help in any increment is appreciated.  Send me an email and I'll find you a task.  I'm This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

A Message From District Governor, Bill Bristol
Welcome to another exciting, growth-filled year in District 3. If you are a rather new member or someone who is just now researching Toastmasters, you cannot lose by jumping right into the world of Toastmasters International. I know I have learned a great deal about both communication and leadership—and I’m still learning—after more than 32 years of continuous, active participation in numerous U.S. and overseas Toastmasters clubs. Personal commitment to the mission and active participation in the various programs and activities of our fine organization will net you far greater benefits than you can now imagine.

As your District Governor for 2008-2009, I have several very simple goals for this year:
First, that every club member and guest feels welcome in our Toastmasters family.
Second, that each member conscientiously applies him/herself to the Toastmasters programs—both in communication and leadership.
Third, that each of us works to enjoy and learn from Toastmaster activities outside our home club environment.
Fourth, that each of us spreads the word of this superb learning organization to those not yet enjoying and growing within our midst.
Fifth, that we end this year knowing that we have earned the right to once again be called

Distinguished!

As you will see, and I firmly believe, we are the “leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality.” By fully supporting the Toastmasters core values of “integrity, dedication to excellence, service to the member, and respect for the individual” we can not help but better ourselves, our communities, our nation, and our world!

I look forward to meeting each of you throughout the course of this year. My promise to you is that I will fully dedicate myself to your personal and organizational growth. I hope you will join me in living our District 3 theme for this year:
“Together We Excel”
